One Second Everyday 2020!
What. A. Year.
We zoomed, we shifted, we prioritized, then reprioritzed, we laughed, we cried, we ran mile after mile, we went from plan A to plan B to plan Z, I became a dance fitness instructor and pre-k teacher, Daniel and I moved both our offices to home, we made every single big and small and in between decision together, we watched our kids become best friends, we’re all healthy, and at the end of the year, I’m so proud of how we handled it.
It was not my worst year, not even close. I didn’t lose any of my people, and there are some years in my life I could not same the same. Sure, logistically it was practically impossible to simultaneously work from home while caring for kids ages one and four, and I do not wish that on anyone. But we made it, and I’d take a logsitical shuffle anyday over other losses I’ve experienced. That’s the unexpected gift of grief: perspective.
If you have lost someone or something this year, in any way, I see you, and send love and hugs to you. If you have given of your time, expertise, service, help, resources to those in need, I see you, and am so grateful for you. We’ve done a remarkable job, collectively, of getting creative, pivoting, looking out for one another and carrying each other while we carry on together.
Happy 2021. Here are some of our little seconds that made up an unforgettable year.
