Anniversary Shoot

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary on September 1st. We loved our first year of marriage (read more about the things that help us in our marriage and thoughts on our first year here).

To celebrate year one, we had an anniversary shoot with Meredith Bacon. Meredith is a photographer from Portland who graciously contacted me via instagram to see if I was interested in an anniversary shoot. I of course agreed and am so thankful for her and the photos we got. I love celebrating milestones and this one felt like an important one.

We spent a warm, late summer evening picnicing and photoshooting at Discovery Park in Seattle. I got back into my wedding dress (by some miracle it still fit!) and we had a great evening.

Living room update featuring a layout swap, new to me chairs, and a new rug! This living room is constantly evolving, this is the latest set up and it feels like a good one. Happy Halloween from Hogwarts! 🪄🦇🧙 This family costume theme has been on Daniel’s radar for yeeeears and he’s ecstatic that we are finally pulling it off (and is very much in character!) Blaire as the snitch is the absolute best part. 😂 We’re on our favorite @microkickboard scooters (we all have them!) so easy for kids getting around on Halloween if you’ve got some serious ground to cover because the mini and maxi size both stay upright with three wheels. Less than one week to go! Have you been ready for weeks or are you headed to the store? (Or is your kiddo still deciding or changing their mind??) 😬 Halloween can be fun and also a lot. Hope yours is safe and magical. 💫

No island? No problem! I DIY’d this island a year ago when we first moved in thinking it would be a temporary solution and it has held up so well I think it’s going to be permanent. This is an ikea hack, it’s a $200 base cabinet with a faux quartz top (laminate!) also ikea. I added unlacquered brass knobs and stools around the back. The kids eat breakfast here everyday, I love the added storage and prep cooking space, and that view to the backyard is not half bad either. 😍 Win win.

First, I just dropped off Trey at KINDERGARTEN! 🍎 Very big day around here. Excited to get to show up here more, however that looks in this next season. Second, the newest @loloirugs collab launches today, with @chrislovesjulia. This is the Francis (FRA-04 in natural/pebble) and it layers in such nice subtle pattern, tone, and texture in this room. Perk: it’s 100% wool! Hard to find at a good price. Perfect fresh start for this new season for us (it’s going to be a good one). #CLJxLoloi

Traveling with small kids, challenge accepted. ✔️ If you’re a frequent flyer with kids, these are a game changer! We get stopped by multiple people every single time we fly asking us where we got them. They make getting through the airport a breeeeze. They are @microkickboard and linked in stories ✨

Parenting is such a trip sometimes and also coaches are our heroes. Trey’s first swim meet! In California! On the same team I grew up on! The most fun 💦

Mint chocolate chip milkshakes, family time, lake life, and 6 years of taking this same photo year after year on the dock. Happy 4th! 🇺🇸
